GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour, Koltsovo Russia Open

Top seeds, Fang Bo and Xu Xin, justified their exalted place in the draw at the GAC GROUP 2012 ITTF World Tour Koltsovo Russian Open in Ekaterinburg, by winning the Men's Doubles title without at any stage of the proceedings being extended the full seven games distance.

A combination comprising two players with mighty forehands proved unstoppable. The left handed pen-holder Xu Xin, with long raking stroke alongside the explosive power of the right handed shake-hands grip, Fang Bo, emerged a winning formula.

Add that Xu Xin excels in the art of deft touches and creating wide angles, the combination is ideal; so it proved to be in Ekaterinburg.

The Final

At the final hurdle Fang Bo and Xu Xin beat colleagues, Yan An and Zhou Yu, the no.3 seeds, in five games (9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7).

It was for both Fang Bo and Zhou Yu their first ever Tour Men's Doubles final; for Yan An it was his second, for Xu Xin his umpteenth.

【以下都是关于许昕的内容】

Previous Appearance

The one previous occasion for Yan An was in October 2011 when he struck gold with colleague Wang Liqin at the Swedish Open, the pair beating Hong Kong Jiang Tianyi and Tang Peng in the final.

Meanwhile for Xu Xin it was no less than his 16th appearance in a Tour Men's Doubles final and the tenth time he had won with what is now six different partners, all team mates.

Partners

He has won three times with Ma Long, the player with whom he won the Men Doubles title at the GAC GRPOUP 2011 World Championships in Rotterdam; twice with Ma Lin and Wang Liqin, once with Zhang Chao and Zhang Jike; now once with Fang Bo.

Xu Xin won with Ma Long in 2009 in Denmark and Doha, whilst earlier this year the duo succeeded in Korea; with Ma Lin he struck gold in Suzhou at the Harmony China Open and in seven months ago in Qatar with Ma Lin.

Meanwhile, alongside Wang Liqin he succeeded in Qatar in 2011 and most recently one month ago in Suzhou; whilst with Zhang Chao he secured the top prize in 2009 in Slovenia and with Zhang Jike in 2011 in England.

Trails the Master

Undoubtedly Xu Xin is proving himself one of the best doubles players in the world but he has some distance to go before he catches the master, Ma Lin; he has no less 39 Tour Men's Doubles titles to his credit.

Look Ahead

At the current rate of progress by 2020, Xu Xin will have equalled that number and it's quite possible, in that year he will only be 30 years old; two years younger than the current age of Ma Lin.

Just one problem; Ma Lin has made it clear that he intends to continue for a few more years yet; no hint of retirement.
